The 924 Carrera GT is generated as a homologation special for motorsport. Thanks to an intercooler, a larger turbocharger, and increased compression, its four-cylinder turbo develops 40 hp more than the 924 Turbo. With an output of almost 106 hp per liter of displacement it holds the record for road-legal cars of its time. New are the light and self-reshapeable polyurethane fender flares. To match the sporting regulations Porsche has two years to build 400 units for motorsport homologation. At the start of production in 1980, 250 units have already been sold.
