Porsche Charging Service Plus

For charging on the road, the Porsche Charging Service Plus provides worldwide access to charging points operated by various providers. Central billing is handled by Porsche. New customers do not have to pay any basic fees for up to three years. Currently, there are just under 200,000 charging points available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and more than 800,000 charging points in 24 countries across Europe. Among them are more than 129,000 charging points with a charging capacity greater than 50 kW DC. More than 45,000 charging points offer a charging capacity of up to 150 kW, and charging with an even higher capacity is possible at about 30,000 charging points.

Porsche drivers can filter the available charging points using the ‘Green Power’ charging station filter. Only charging stations that use appropriately certified electricity directly for charging processes are then displayed.

Porsche Destination Charging

A particular highlight is the exclusive Porsche Destination Charging. It allows BEV and PHEV customers to charge their Porsches for free at top destinations. The programme now provides more than 6,000 AC charging points in upwards of 90 countries, including ones at selected hotels, airports, museums, shopping malls, sports clubs and marinas. Further expansion of the network is in full swing. Porsche Destination Charging locations are marked with a separate icon (a black P) on the map in the My Porsche app so that they can quickly be found and navigated to.

Porsche Turbo Charging

Porsche Turbo Charging is a network of fast-charging stations initiated by Porsche with 800-volt technology. In addition to installations at Porsche Centres, it also includes the charging location that Porsche operates at its production site in Leipzig. At the customer centre near the city, there are a dozen 350 kW (DC) fast charging points and four 22 kW (AC) charging points in operation – seven days a week, around the clock and for customers of all car brands.

In addition, Porsche is supporting the worldwide installation of a fast-charging infrastructure, in some cases together with partners:

  • through the IONITY joint venture, Porsche is involved in almost 700 fast-charging locations across Europe with up to 350 kW charging capacity per charging point (see next page).

  • In the US, more than 4,000 DC charging points with a charging capacity of up to 350 kW DC have been connected to the Porsche Charging Service Plus by Electrify America. This network belongs to Volkswagen Group of America.

  • In selected markets, Porsche is working with local partners to develop a charging infrastructure with selectively installed fast-charging corridors.

Porsche Charging Lounges

Porsche is setting up its own fast-charging stations, Porsche Charging Lounges, along Europe’s most important routes with the level of premium charging experience that users would expect of the brand. The fifth exclusive fast-charging station will be going into operation near Hamburg at the end of 2024. The other Porsche Charging Lounges are located in Bingen am Rhein, Estenfeld near Würzburg, Koblach in Austria, and Ingolstadt. Between four and six DC fast-charging stations with up to 400 kW of charging capacity are available at the locations, as well as some additional AC charging points delivering up to 22 kW.

The Porsche Charging Lounges are displayed in the navigation system and in the My Porsche app. Billing after a charging session is managed centrally via the Porsche Charging Service.

A Porsche ID is required to access the charging stations and the lounge area. This ID must be linked to the car. If the number plate is also linked to the Porsche ID, the barrier opens automatically thanks to number plate recognition. The car’s registration number can be stored conveniently in the My Porsche app. Alternatively, the customer can use their Porsche Charging Card or a QR code from the My Porsche app for easy access to both the site and the lounge.

IONITY, 2017, Porsche AG

IONITY fast-charging network

IONITY currently has the largest network of high-performance charging stations in Europe, which is accessible for most electric vehicles. Almost 4,500 high-power charging points are currently available at 698 locations in 24 countries. Ninety-two additional locations are under construction.

The IONITY network uses the Combined Charging System (CCS), the European charging standard. Thanks to the 800-volt technology of the charging stations, the Porsche Taycan and Macan can be charged there at their full potential of up to 320 and 270 kW respectively. By using the Porsche Charging Service Plus, their drivers also benefit from a standardised and significantly discounted price at IONITY fast-charging stations; this is currently from 0.33 euros per kilowatt hour.

IONITY was founded in 2017. The shareholders are the BMW Group, Mercedes Benz AG, the Ford Motor Company, Hyundai Motors with KIA, the Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche, and the investment company Blackrock.
